2002
This year there were more people, but since South Beach was expecting err-body,
things seemed a lot "smoother" and organized. I haven't heard anything
about Cancun this year so far, so I'm assuming (which I hate to do) Miami
will be the THE biggest spot this year. Basically, like I mentioned below,
all kinds of people will represent, but if you worry about you and your fun,
you won't have any problems.
I do anticipate a slightly younger ( 23-28yrs.) crowd this year, so if your're looking for something a lil' more upscale and laid-back, I suggest you look for another destination. There are a couple on the main page you might be interested in. The celebs will still be in effect like last year (Big Gipp from Goodie Mob, Treach, NORE, Terrell Owens, Jermaine O'Neal, Camron, Scarface, Trina, etc...) so a good time can still be had. The "po-po's" are everywhere too; not harrassing, but they're just there. Anyway, enjoy yourself, 'cause next year Miami will probably be burned out. 2002 Photos

Although
Urban Fashion Week WILL NOT take place during this Memeorial Day Weekend,
Miami will be even more packed than last year. If you like large crowds, hot
weather and non-stop action - this is where you need to be! Everything takes
place in South Beach, so there's no need to worry about getting around, but
ladies leave those high heel shoes that match your swimsuit at the hotel because
you will do some walking. Oh, and I don't care how dark you are, bring your
sun screen - you'll thank me.
The clubs will be ridiculously packed AND overpriced, but if you insist on going, be there by 9:30 or 10 or you won't get in. If your budget is limited, don't worry 'cause "Collins Ave" will be poppin' ALL NIGHT. You'll still need a few dollars to eat and drink, but this trip won't break you ...depending on how much you drink.
98% of the people will be cool, but you know somebody has the potential to "wild out". There will be all "kinds" of people representin'...Athletes and Celebs (last year I saw Eve, Eddie George, Sugar Shane Mosley, Jerome Bettis, Jagged Edge 'nem, Beenie Seigle, Jigga, Nelly 'nem, Tyson (the model) - you get the picture.), Black Professionals, Ballers and Goldiggas, Thugs and Hoochies, Bustas and Chickenheads - my point is, if you do your thing, you won't have time to trip off of "what she wearing" or "why dog lookin' at me". The police are tolerant, but after last year's unexpected crowd, they'll be a little more strict. Oh, and uh remember, even though it might not look like it, Miami is still in the United States - WEED is not legal, so make sure you do your thang on the "down-low". If you see me sportin' the HOLLERATUS.com t-shirt make sure you Holleratme. Enjoy yourself, be safe and "get you some"...peace. 2001 Photos
